Have you ever looked out your window on a winter day and thought, “what do I have to wear?” Don’t worry, we have all been there. It can be tough to figure out what cold weather clothes to keep in your closet.
Last week, the west coast got pounded with rain and snow. Luckily, this doesn’t happen too often but it got me thinking about my cold weather gear. For someone that lives in SoCal, I have a ton of awesome and functional cold weather apparel that I want to share with you! All these items will keep you warm and in style this winter. Enjoy!
No matter where you live, you should have at least one rain coat in your closet. Even if you it doesn’t rain frequently, that one day it pours, you will be prepared. These jackets last a long time and only should be worn in certain types of weather. I am a fan of Patagonia and North Face.
I have had the same Michael Kors peacoat for years. Again, it’s one of those items that you don’t wear all the time but when the weather calls for it you will be happy to have it. If you go to the East Coast and wear a pea coat you automatically get street cred. Everyone owns one & wears one.
Sweaters are awesome because you can dress them up or down. If it’s cold in the house you can throw on a sweater. If you’re going for a quick walk around the block, you can throw on a sweater. If you’re going out to dinner, you can throw on a sweater.
I am a huge fan of sherpa jackets! They are not ideal for when its raining but when it’s cold and windy it’s a great warm outer layer. You can easily layer them and take your sherpa off once you get where you’re going.
Up your style and invest in a nice pair of boots. Boots are the perfect thing to wear for a night on the town, a work function or something in between.
I always wear jeans in the cold. Denim keeps me warm and there are so many great fits and styles you can never have too many.
Beanie or Hat
Keep your dome warm with a beanie or a hat. I have been into beanies lately so that my ears stay warm but also have over 30 hats lol. These are a few of my favorites!
If your toes get cold like mine do you need to step up your sock game. Someone once told me if your feet are the first thing to get cold your entire body will get cold. Protect your feet against the cold by getting some warm socks.
The perfect attire for a day lounging on the couch calls for a comfy pair of sweats. Sweats have come a long way and are more fitted allowing you to rock most places.
If it’s that cold where you live or are traveling to, make sure you have some gloves. Nothing is worse than having your fingertips go numb. They make texting gloves now too which is clutch.
